Like asdf (or nvm or pyenv but for any language) it manages dev tools like node, python, cmake, terraform, and hundreds more. Like direnv it manages environment variables for different project directories. Like make it manages tasks used to build and test projects.

Shell completions have been installed. These completions require an
additional program, 'usage', which should be managed with mise.
mise use -g usage # only required after initial install
mise update usage # required when usage updates
Upgrading mise may cause deserialiazation warnings to be printed when
internal data structures change. Restarting the terminal session
will resolve those issues.
